Warehouse Cleaning Checklist for Facilities and Site Managers
Warehouses need a different cleaning plan from offices. The checklist should cover floors and walkways, loading bays, staff welfare facilities, on-site offices, high-level dust and a clear split of waste responsibilities between the cleaner and the site operator. The right frequency for each area depends on activity levels, floor surfaces and shift patterns, so the plan is best built from a site survey.
Floors and walkways
Regular sweeping, vacuuming or machine cleaning, depending on the floor surface and activity. Keeping pedestrian walkways and marked routes clear supports site safety.
Loading areas
Loading zones collect packaging, grit and debris, and should be built into the cleaning plan with an agreed frequency.
Staff facilities
Washrooms, kitchens, canteens and welfare areas generally need more frequent cleaning than storage areas, often daily on multi-shift sites.
Offices
Most warehouses include administration and management offices that need conventional commercial cleaning.
High-level dust
Racking, beams and fittings collect dust. High-level cleaning may need specialist access equipment and a separate risk assessment.
Waste
Agree in writing which waste streams the cleaner handles and which remain with the site operator.
