Office cleaning guide
How Often Should an Office Be Professionally Cleaned?
There is no single right frequency for office cleaning. Busy offices with more than a handful of staff usually need washrooms, kitchens and bins attended to daily, while small or lightly used offices may be well served by two or three visits a week. The right schedule depends on headcount, visitor numbers, washroom and kitchen use, floor types and working hours, and is best set from a site survey rather than a fixed number of hours.

Daily cleaning
Busy offices, and any office that receives clients, usually need daily attention to washrooms, kitchens, bins, entrance floors and frequently used shared areas.
Several times a week
Smaller offices with moderate occupancy often find two or three scheduled visits each week enough, with washrooms and kitchens prioritised on each visit.
Weekly cleaning
Very small or lightly used offices may only need a weekly clean, supplemented by periodic deeper cleaning.
Periodic tasks
Carpet cleaning, internal glazing, high-level dusting and detailed floor care are best scheduled separately, monthly, quarterly or annually depending on use.
Factors that increase frequency
- high staff numbers or hot-desking
- regular client or public visitors
- on-site kitchens and food preparation
- light-coloured carpets or high-gloss floors
- staff arriving from sites or outdoor work
Frequency by task, not by hours
A professional site survey lets a cleaning provider set a frequency for each task instead of simply allocating hours. That produces a clearer specification and makes it easier to compare quotes.
