Airbnb Changeover Cleaning Checklist for Hosts
A changeover clean has to reset the property completely between guests, usually inside a few hours. The checklist covers linen and towels, the kitchen and bathroom, floors and surfaces, restocking consumables, staging the rooms as they appear in your listing photos, and reporting anything damaged or missing before the next guest arrives.
Linen and towels
Strip all beds and bathrooms, check for stains and damage, and remake with fresh linen. Keeping two or three full sets in rotation means a changeover never waits on a wash cycle.
Kitchen
Empty and clean the fridge, check for guest leftovers, run and empty the dishwasher, clean the hob, microwave and kettle, wipe cupboard fronts, and check crockery counts against your inventory.
Bathroom
Descale and clean the shower, screen, bath, basin and toilet, polish mirrors and taps, replace toiletries and paper, and empty bins.
Living areas and bedrooms
Dust and wipe surfaces, plump and straighten soft furnishings, vacuum thoroughly including under beds, clean internal glass and check every drawer and wardrobe for belongings left behind.
Restock and reset
Tea, coffee, dishwasher tablets, bin bags, toiletries and paper, plus the welcome information. Stage each room to match the listing photos, because that is what the guest is expecting to walk into.
Report before the next guest
Damage, missing items, low stock and maintenance issues should be reported with photos on the day, not at the end of the month. That is the difference between a cleaning service and a proper changeover service.
Same-day changeovers
Where check-out and check-in fall on the same day, agree the window in advance and give the cleaning team a realistic slot. Rushed changeovers are where reviews are lost.
